2025/26 Winter Corn: Harvest and Market Outlook

The winter corn harvest has gained momentum, with 5% of the total crop harvested so far. Weather conditions for harvesting are generally favorable, with dry, sunny days and moderate temperatures ensuring that the harvested grain remains dry and free from mold or damage. Overall, the crop has benefited from stable weather throughout the growing season, including adequate sunlight and timely rainfall during the vegetative and grain-filling stages, which is critical for good kernel development and high yields.

The cobs are in excellent condition, well-filled with grains that are uniform, plump, and healthy, reflecting strong crop growth.

This year, over 20% of the crop was planted early, which is expected to enter the market sooner, providing an early supply boost. Water levels in reservoirs are normal, and irrigation supply is sufficient, supporting crops sown at the usual planting times and contributing to overall crop health and yield potential.

Corn arrivals in the market are currently being traded at PKR 3,100 per maund with a moisture content of 18–20%, while corn from the previous season is priced higher at PKR 3,400 per maund with 14–16% moisture. Current arrivals are very limited, with only a small quantity reaching the market.

Why Pakistan’s Rice Exports Are Falling While India Maintains Its Position

In November, Pakistan exported 406,843 metric tons of rice worth $171 million, showing a month-on-month increase compared to October, when exports stood at 360,474 metric tons. Despite this improvement, Pakistan’s overall rice exports remain significantly below last year’s levels. In comparison with its neighboring country India’s rice exports largely remained stable compared to the previous year. From April to November 2025, India earned approximately $7.3 billion from rice exports, almost unchanged from the same period last year. As the world’s largest rice exporter, India’s export performance has played a key role in shaping global rice stocks, alongside good harvests in other major producing countries that have kept global supply comfortable.
