Surge in Wheat Sowing

Sowing in Sindh is now almost cultivated, and the current market situation for wheat in the province appears quite encouraging. This year, it is expected that wheat cultivation in Sindh will cover an area of more than 1.3 million hectares, which will be higher compared to previous years. One of the reasons for the increase in the cultivated area is the Grower Support Program, under which more than 300,000 farmers have registered so far, with a target to reach over 400,000 growers in the near future.

Another major factor behind the strong interest in wheat this year is the attractive market rate. Currently, the price in Sindh stands around 9,800 rupees per 102 kilograms, which is considerably appealing for farmers. With limited viable alternatives wheat remains the preferred crop choice in Sindh as it offers a relatively stable return with lower risks, and given the current market conditions, many growers have found it to be the most profitable and secure option for the rabi season

In November, Pakistan exported 406,843 metric tons of rice worth $171 million, showing a month-on-month increase compared to October, when exports stood at 360,474 metric tons. Despite this improvement, Pakistan’s overall rice exports remain significantly below last year’s levels. In comparison with its neighboring country India’s rice exports largely remained stable compared to the previous year. From April to November 2025, India earned approximately $7.3 billion from rice exports, almost unchanged from the same period last year. As the world’s largest rice exporter, India’s export performance has played a key role in shaping global rice stocks, alongside good harvests in other major producing countries that have kept global supply comfortable.
